Hey, I’m Liz and I’m glad you’re here!
I grew up in church, went to a private school with Christian teaching, I have wonderful parents who love God and love me well, but when I got to seminary, and started to dig deeper into my faith and what I believed about God, I was surprised to realize I didn’t really believe God loved me.
It turns out I was too busy trying to please God (and people) to allow myself to be vulnerable before God (and people).
These days, I find it comforting that God knows every bit of me and loves me. Though, to be honest, it’s sometimes still hard for me to live as if that’s true.
On the Lamplight Stories blog I unpack some of the ways I am noticing God and living more into my identity as created and loved by God.
I want you to know and be known by God, too.
You’re welcome here no matter where you are in your spiritual journey. Got questions about faith? I do. Been hurt by people you thought you could trust with your story? I have. Wondering if God really loves you? See above. Frustrated with church or struggling to find somewhere, anywhere you can thrive and serve? It’s hard, I know.
What helps me in these moments is to hold up the light and try to notice where God is present. Then, I do my best to share those stories—to hold up the light up to them again—so you can see, too.
I send out a monthly newsletter with fun extras and ways to connect more deeply. I’d love to send it to you!
