  1. Poetry is saving my life. Last night, as my fiancé napped after a hard day, I finished reading Jacqueline Woodson’s Brown Girl Dreaming. Today, I read “Wisdom: The Voice of God” from Mary Karr’s new collection, which ends, “Put down that gun, you need a sandwich.”

    1. I love that poetry is saving your life. I find I often can’t slow down enough to connect with poetry, but I’d really like to. Maybe I’ll check out Mary Karr’s collection…trading guns for sandwiches sounds just right.

      1. I think it helps to read poetry out loud. Especially if you aren’t used to doing so. It forces you to slow down and put the words inside you. I hope you find a poet you’ll connect with! Thank you for sharing!
